A mid‑century silver‑plated set consisting of a silver‑plated Silver Spoon Cup holder and a silver‑plated Douwe Egberts tea caddy, designed by Herbert Hooijkaas and manufactured around the 1960s by Zilverfabriek H. Hooijkaas in Schoonhoven (Netherlands) with good vintage condition and light wear.
Description from the seller
Beautiful mid-century set consisting of a silver-plated Silver Spoon Cup (spoon holder) and a silver-plated tea caddy from Douwe Egberts, both designed by Herbert Hooijkaas and manufactured in the 1960s by his silver factory H. Hooijkaas.
The objects are decorated with rich relief decorations in HH Repoussé style, depicting a nostalgic 17th-century Oud-Hollandse scene: an inn with drinkers, a coach, musicians, and atmospheric village motifs.
A typical example of Hooijkaas's refined craftsmanship, combined with the historical appeal for which Douwe Egberts is known.
Douwe Egberts traces its origins to Joure, Netherlands, where Egbert Douwes opened a grocery store in 1753 — the foundation for the well-known coffee brand that later had these exclusive silver-plated tins produced.
