Jacques Castanier (also Castagner) worked around 1750 and specialized in the production of verge clocks with repeater movement
This watch has a quarter repeater movement from London - called Lekceh London,
Leather-covered outer case – in excellent condition. This outer case will not be shipped to countries outside the EU.
The inner case is made of at least 18K gold of exceptional quality by a master watchmaker. It is openworked. It is fully engraved with birds, leaves, and fantasy ornaments. On the underside, below the six, there is a face.
A very beautiful enamel dial with Roman numerals and a continuous minute track with large Arabic numerals in front. Gold-colored, ornate baroque steel hands. A dial release means an early watch. Time setting is controlled by a winding key on the dial.
Lift (left turning) via the back - lift key provided.
Tall fire-gilt movement marked Lekceh London – working – made around 1750. Beautiful angular pillars. Ornate verge cock with a small ruby endstone. Silver speed control disc. Plate with beautiful relief appliqués. Very fine condition.
Movement fold-out soldered.
Work and repetition are functioning.
The hours and the past quarter hours - 1/2/3 - are struck on the built-in bell.
As a collector's item, no control of the accuracy and barrel length
Watch diameter 48mm - height 28.8mm - total length with pendant 65.88mm - weight 106.6g
