WINE VARIETIES: Field Blend of over 30 grape varieties.
VINIFICATION
All grapes are selected before being foot trodden in lagares for 1 to 3 days before fermentation. The must will
ferment in granite stone tanks and then finish fermentation in stainless steel tanks in controlled temperatures,
ranging from 22ºC to 27ºC with pigeages by hand.
We then rack the resulting wines in one and two year old French oak barrels (225 and 300 litres), from selected
coopers, where they go through malolactic fermentation. All wines were then carefully aged for 26 months in
barrels, keeping all different fermentations completely separate until the final blending took place in January
2023. The wine then rested for 2 months in stainless steel tanks until bottling.
TASTING NOTES
Black and wild fruit with immense purity involves notes of some mushroom and fresh moss. Juicy and luscious
mouth-feel, with a final light texture. A wine that invites a next glass and beautifully pairs with truffle flavoured
cheeses or meats, barbecue meats and herbs such as dill, coriander, cilantro and parsley.
SERVING
Ideal to accompany cheeses, red meat and game dishes. Store in a horizontal position, in a cool and dry place, protected from light and temperature fluctuations. Serve at a temperature of 16ºC. Consume in moderation.
HISTORY
The van Zellers left the Low Countries (Netherlands) due to political and religious reasons. As Catholics, they arrived in Portugal and established themselves in Porto as Port Wine merchants. Through family ties, the van Zellers are linked to the Douro and to the production of its wines since 1620.
Our way is all about respect for the Douro, its diversity, tradition and people is what keeps us in the wine trade. Due to our long history producing wines, to the vastness of the region and the number of indigenous grape varieties, each vineyard is a unique terroir. Our goal is to preserve their character, by selecting old vineyards and carefully nurture them. Our way is to show the world the greatness of Douro DOC wines and Ports.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a recurring auction. The seal number(s) you see on the photos might differ from the one(s) on your bottle(s).
