La pécheresse by Henri de Régnier, first edition original from 1920, Mercure de France, in French, 350 pages, 14 x 20 cm, soft cover, in good condition, one of 515 copies on Hollande paper.
Description from the seller
Original edition and one of the 515 copies on Hollande paper, numbered from 254 to 768 (for sale, number 584).
Softcover, housed in a half-maroquin slipcase, all contained within a cardboard box.
Mr. de Séguiran has only one concern in his castle near Aix en Provence: to have descendants. The madames of Séguiran are virtuous; the first, unable to provide the much-desired heir, leaves a widower in tears. But the cruelest is his brother, who suspects Mr. de Séguiran of being incapable of procreating!
With humor and many subtle allusions, Henri de Régnier plants vivid characters into far-fetched situations. With his delicate and precise style, he amuses and moves until the very last scene!
Generally well-preserved copy: some wear marks on the leather of the cover. Paperback in good condition, fresh interior and free of foxing. Uncut pages.
