Description from the seller
4-piece poster of Circus Los Muchachos in Germany around 1980, introduced by Circus Carl Althoff.
It was a famous Spanish circus from the 1970s and the public face of the educational project Benposta, a children's republic and charitable organization founded by Father Jesús Silva for troubled youth. Children received education and helped run the community and the circus. Circus Los Muchachos achieved international success through its tours, and its story has been documented in series such as 'Los Muchachos Revolution Circus' on Prime Video.
Benposta: The organization behind the circus was Benposta, a community founded in 1956 in Galicia, Spain, by Father Jesús Silva.
The Republic: Benposta was a children's republic, which means that the children helped govern the community with the aim of promoting health and development by defending their rights.
Circus Education: The circus, founded in 1966, was a way to spread the message of Benposta and to provide education and training. Children from all over the world were trained at the circus school to perform.
International success: Los Muchachos became an international sensation and toured countries such as France, the United States (including Madison Square Garden), and across South America, Asia, and Australia.
The story of Benposta and the circus is told in documentaries, which highlight both the idealistic origin and the eventual downfall.
The posters are folded and will be sent registered and insured.
