Two English lead crystal wine glasses with a folded foot and an inverted tear in the stem, dating to circa 1740 and 1745, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Two English lead crystal wine glasses with a rolled foot and a beautifully placed inverted tear in the stem. The glasses are slightly different from each other. Based on the same glasses depicted in Eighteenth Century Drinking Glasses, An Illustrated Guide, one is from around 1740 and the other from around 1745, making them approximately 280 to 285 years old. Both are in an excellent condition. Below is a description of each glass separately. I also kindly refer you to the photos, which are also part of the descriptions.
Glass 1 (ref glass 0009)
A beautiful wine glass with a simple stem from the mid-18th century
Period: George II circa 1745
Origin: England
Color: Bright
Bowl: drawn trumpet glass
Steel: Smooth taps accelerating with inverted air tear.
Conical, folded foot
Pontil: clamped, pinched
Glastype: Lead
Dimensions: Height 17.3 cm. Diameter of the bowl 7.8 cm. Diameter of the base 8.5 cm.
Condition: Excellent. No chips or cracks.
