Description from the seller
Eduard Hildebrandt (1818-1869) - 19th-century German School
(September 9, 1818 Danzig – October 25, 1868 Berlin)
Children and horses at a spring - Charming romantic scene, painted around 1847
Magnificent original painting by E. Hildebrandt, depicting a finely detailed pastoral scene. Two draft horses rest near a fountain, where two children play accompanied by a dog.
The natural scenery — trees, clear flowing water, gentle light — creates a lively and harmonious atmosphere, typical of 19th-century pictorial romanticism.
The work is characterized by:
a very balanced composition
a remarkable work on materials and light
A strong narrative presence, magnified by the source scene.
A great sense of detail, especially in the rendering of horses and figures.
The painting is signed and dated 1847 at the bottom right.
Superficial cracks consistent with age, no loss of material. Very good overall appearance.
Good condition for a work of this period. Canvas stable, fresh colors.
Oil on canvas of exceptional origin, extremely fine and delicate.
Dimensions: 41.5x57.5cm.
Magnificent original frame
Framed dimensions: about 70x86cm.
The watch is in very good condition, with some signs of wear and minor cracks to note.
