Henri de Régnier, born on December 28, 1864, in Honfleur, and died on May 23, 1936, in Paris, was a French writer and poet, close to symbolism. An admirer of Mallarmé, whom he regularly attended 'Tuesdays' with in his youth, he was initially influenced by Leconte de Lisle and especially by José-Maria de Heredia, whose daughter he married in 1895. His first collection, Old and Romantic Poems (1889), brought him fame.
