Description from the seller

Contemporary Offset F. Champenois Printer-Publisher / 1897 Alfons Mucha.
Printed in Canada. ART VIN006 (The number of the edition may vary depending on the release date)
Published by Ricordi Arte / R.S.V. Group - Printed in 2025.

A leading exponent of Art Nouveau, Alfons Mucha was one of those painters and decorative artists who transformed Arts & Crafts into one of the Fine Arts.
Closely linked to advertising and design, his decorative figures are the paradigm of what became known as Modernism.

Apparently, Mucha was an excellent singer and was therefore able to continue his secondary education, but he soon discovered a new vocation: drawing. From then on, he worked as a decorative painter in his native Moravia, mainly for theatrical performances, and ended up in the effervescent Vienna of the time.

Theatre, decorative painting, murals, lithographs, and portraits... In all of these, he stood out from other artists of his time. But perhaps his greatest success was in a newly born art form: advertising. Magazines and advertisers begged for his services, and the legendary actress Sarah Bernhardt offered him an exclusive six-year contract to represent her image.
The streets were filled with his drawings, and everyone was turning to this modern and visually effective art form.

His posters, advertisements, and illustrations, as well as his designs for jewelry, carpets, wallpaper, and theatre sets, became known as Art Nouveau. Many of them feature beautiful, healthy young women floating among lush flowers.

His art never truly went out of fashion, and all European modernist movements, including Art Deco, drew directly from his style. His influence is evident, for example, in the hippie posters of the 1960s and the artist's massive impact on illustration from 1900 to the present day.

Size: 49.5 x 69.5 cm.
