Description from the seller
Pair of Chinese cloisonné vases with lids and wooden bases – Jingfa/Zijin Cheng – China, second half of the 20th century
Elegant pair of Chinese cloisonné vases with lids, decorated with multicolored floral motifs and birds among peony branches, a traditional symbol of prosperity and rebirth.
The vases feature the classic bronze structure with welded metal wires and hand-applied vitreous enamels, following the cloisonné technique also illustrated in the included original information sheet. The surface is richly decorated with a yellow background featuring stylized clouds ('key pattern') and petal-shaped borders in blue.
At the bottom of each vase is the producer's label:
Zijin Cheng – a brand name evoking the 'Forbidden City,' used by Chinese state-owned manufactories active in producing high-quality cloisonné.
Jingfa, one of the most well-known factories of the period for producing cloisonné also intended for export.
Both vases are supplied with carved wooden bases, original from the period.
A very decorative set, perfect for collectors of 20th-century Chinese art and for oriental environments.
