Enstatite chondrite meteorite Al Haggounia 001, EL4-7, from the SAHARA region, Sahara.
Description from the seller
Also called 'condrites E.' Except for those found in Antarctica and the NWA, only twenty-four have been discovered. They are named after the large amount of enstatite present. The iron they contain is not found forming oxides but as sulfides or metal. This suggests that their formation occurred in an oxygen-deficient zone, probably inside Mercury's orbit.
The Al Haggounia 001 meteorite has finally been classified, after much controversy, as an EL 4-7 enstatite melt breccia. The piece we are auctioning in this lot is a large, complete specimen suitable for a good collection.
Due to its age, Al Haggounia 001 is considered by many as a 'fossil meteorite'.
On the other hand, condrites are the oldest materials in the Solar System, with an estimated formation age of over 4.5 billion years.
An excellent opportunity to add this marvel of the universe to your collection.
We belong to the leading global associations related to meteorites: GMA (Global Meteorite Association), IMCA (International Meteorite Collectors Association), and The Meteoritical Society, so all our meteorites come with a certificate of authenticity, and we guarantee all our meteorites for life.
