Laos-origin translucent tektite meteorite pendant, natural and of the best quality, weighing 10 g, with a sterling silver bale.
Description from the seller
Beautiful natural tektite pendant — meteorite impact — of good size, translucent, and of the highest quality, which is somewhat uncommon in the indochinitas. The clasp is made of sterling silver. A unique and exclusive gift. No two are alike. We will send a jewelry box from our brand CRATER for an ideal presentation of this jewel.
The indochinitas like those in this lot were formed by the impact of a large meteorite 800,000 years ago, according to the most recent studies. The collision was brutal, so much so that molten material covered 10% of the Earth's surface, and indochinitas have been found even in Antarctica.
Tektites are objects of natural glass formed by the impact of large meteorites on the Earth's surface. They are the driest known minerals, with an average water content of 0.005%, despite most forming due to impacts underwater. Partially fused zircon has also been discovered within some tektites. This, along with their water content, suggests that tektites formed under very high temperatures and pressures (similar to those required to form diamonds).
