Vintage 1960s Manual-Wind Telemeter Chronograph – Swiss Made – 40mm

Vintage manual-wind chronographs are among the most sought-after pieces in the vintage watch world, and this 1960s telemeter chronograph is no exception. These watches continue to appreciate over time, even after years of everyday wear—whether that includes football games, countryside cycling, or enjoying a few beers with friends.

The watch measures 40mm including the crown and is Swiss Made, as indicated at the 6 o'clock position. It features a mint black dial with striking black and gold subdials, along with distinctive vintage-style pushers.

The telemeter scale allows the wearer to measure the distance to an event that can be both seen and heard—traditionally used for things like lightning strikes or similar occurrences.

Movement

This watch is powered by a one-jewel R. Lapanouse manual-wind movement, recently regulated and keeping accurate time.

Although technically a chronograph, this model is sometimes referred to as a “lap timer.” The upper subdial tracks 45-minute intervals, while the lower subdial records up to 6 hours.

Before operation, the time must be manually set to exactly 12 o’clock, with the seconds hand also aligned at 12. Both chronograph registers will then be in the zero position. Pressing the top pusher starts the timing mechanism, and pressing the lower pusher stops it. Timing continues until the lower pusher is activated. The top register measures 45 minutes, and the lower register measures up to 6 hours.
