Description from the seller
Marantz EQ-340 – Custom Fiber-Optic Edition (One-off build)
This is not a standard EQ-340. It is a fully modified example with hand-applied fiber optic lighting per band controller, combining functionality with an aesthetic response grid. There is literally only one of this type.
Anyone who thinks that 'just putting up some lights' is a simple hobby project is completely mistaken.
For each frequency section is:
The internal rail opened
The original mechanical slider base adjusted
A fine-mesh bundle of optical fibers split, shortened, polished, and fixed.
The light distribution block custom positioned.
The LED drivers are safely dimensioned relative to the original rail load.
Per slider, the roughly 45–70 minutes of production time includes precision drilling, bundle placement, fixing, and testing.
With 12 sliders per channel and 24 in total, you're talking about over 25 hours of work just on lighting technology, excluding dismantling, revision, wiring-routing, and thermal management.
The case has an external OEM look, functional and matching Marantz full-metal design from the same period. Nothing flashy, but futuristic enough to stand out in a high-end vintage rack.
Technical highlights
Marantz EQ-340 base platform
Fully functioning 2-channel 12-band equalizer
Custom fiber-optic illumination, blue spectrum
Individual light points per slider
Separate power supply and resistance bank for the purpose of thermal stability.
• Input-select (Tape 1/Tape 2/Source) operational
• Frontplate aluminium; topplate vintage honey-finish
Performance & Use Case
This device is built for users who assemble their chain modularly and want visual feedback on micro-EQ shifts.
It does not position itself as a toy, but as a statement component within a premium setup.
particularly suitable for studio-style stacks
