【Product details】

This wakizashi is housed in a plain wooden storage scabbard and comes with a purple protective cloth bag. The blade is unsigned, retaining the quiet dignity and craftsmanship typical of traditional Japanese swords from this period.

This sword comes with a photocopy of its Firearms and Swords Registration Certificate from Akita Prefecture, number 12874, as the original has been returned to the government. The certificate details are as follows: Type: Wakizashi, Length: 51.8 cm, Curvature: 0.9 cm, with one peg hole, and unsigned on both the obverse and reverse. Issued on June 18, Showa 40 (1965).

A very small nick is present on the cutting edge, with additional scuffs and areas of rust visible on the blade surface. The scabbard shows several prominent cracks, with parts reinforced using adhesive tape. Remnants of old labels, abrasions, minor scratches, and discolouration can also be observed. The copper habaki has developed a patina over time. The protective cloth bag has stains. Please refer to the photos for a detailed view of the condition. The display stand is not included in this lot.

Length of the blade: 69 cm
Total length including scabbard: 80 cm
