Description from the seller
Vittorio Colucci was born in Ischia in 1935. Son of the painter Otello Colucci, he grew up in a deeply artistic family environment and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, where he absorbed the Neapolitan painting tradition and the trends of the second half of the twentieth century. His art is distinguished by the poetic depiction of the coastal landscapes of Southern Italy: piers, boats, and nighttime lights reflecting on the water, creating a painting suspended between realism and lyricism. His oil paintings on canvas, characterized by a soft and luminous palette, transform the Mediterranean night into an intimate and contemplative dimension.
He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy, receiving recognition and praise from critics. Among the most notable exhibitions are those dedicated to Neapolitan contemporary painting and thematic shows on landscapes and the sea, where his work has stood out for its elegance and stylistic coherence. His works are also present in national galleries and auctions, indicating ongoing interest from the public and collectors.
Throughout his career, Colucci maintained a recognizable and consistent style, faithful to the light and silences of his native sea. Today, he is considered one of the most refined interpreters of 20th-century Mediterranean landscape painting, capable of evoking, through light and color, the poetry and tranquility of Southern Italy.
