Description from the seller

Original photograph - Vintage print (1966) - Artist's print on silver gelatin / baryta paper - Artist's stamp on the back - signed - title, location, and year of the photograph - hand-signed - collector's copy
Photographer Hubertus Hierl (*1940) was able to photograph Pablo Picasso with his consent during a bullfight in Fréjus (South France - August 7, 1966). A stroke of luck! The photographs show Picasso in an environment that was one of his major themes throughout his life: bullfighting.
Werner Spies, Picasso expert and former director of the Centre Pompidou in Paris, writes in the book "Picasso at the Bullfight": "The photographs by Hubertus Hierl show anticipation, tension and fear... they show what Picasso sees and feels."

Provenance: directly from the artist's archive — authenticity is guaranteed.

Literature and Illustration
Picasso at the bullfight. Photographs by Hubertus Hierl. Text by Werner Spies. Cologne 2002
Picasso at the bullring. Photographs by Hubertus Hierl. Picasso Foundation. Casa Natal Museum - Málaga 2006 - p. 65
