A very rare first edition, published in Palermo, of this important treatise on the art of memory and mnemonics. The author, Giovanni Brancaccio (1673-post 1753), was a Sicilian lawyer and physician with a particular interest in memory. In this work, he cites the mnemonic feats of historical figures and offers suggestions for memorizing the Holy Scriptures (curiously printed vertically).

PP.: (XLVIII), 225, (CXV). COMPLETE, with a figurative frontispiece.
This copy, with its pages, is in overall very good condition, with some pencil notes from the former owner. A tear, restored and without any loss of text, on the A4 page.
Contemporary binding in full parchment with manuscript title on the spine, very well preserved. White endpapers.
