ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH - Vintage print (1966) - Artist's print on Agfa silver gelatin / baryta paper - on the back, artist's stamp and handwritten notes: title, negative number, location, and year of capture - signed by hand – collector's copy

Photographer Hubertus Hierl was able to photograph Pablo Picasso with his consent during a bullfight in Fréjus (Southern France - August 7, 1966). The photographs depict Picasso in an environment that was one of his major themes throughout his life: bullfighting.
Werner Spies, Picasso expert and former director of the Centre Pompidou in Paris, writes in the book "Picasso at the Bullfight": "The photographs by Hubertus Hierl show anticipation, tension and fear... they show what Picasso sees and feels."
