Beautiful in-quarto copy, untrimmed.
Marcel Gromaire (born July 24, 1892, in Noyelles-sur-Sambre, and died April 11, 1971, in Paris) was a French painter, engraver, decorator, illustrator, and carton maker. In 1947, he held his first exhibition at Louis Carré. Like Rouault or Dufy, Marcel Gromaire worked apart from groups and currents. A friend of Henri Matisse and Fernand Léger in his youth, he was, however, 'a student of no one.'
