A gilt lead relief of Saint Bartholomew Possibly Netherlandish, first half of the 17th century
This rare devotional relief depicts Saint Bartholomew standing in an arched niche, holding the attributes of his martyrdom. The figure is shown with a halo and flowing drapery, above the incised inscription BARTHOLOMEUS. The rectangular plaque is surmounted by a beautifully detailed strap-work cresting with a small suspension loop.

The gilding was rubbed with age-consistent wear.

Dimensions: approximately 16 cm tall including cresting, 9.2 cm wide.
