Description from the seller
Schaumburg Watch: Grand Perpetual MooN - Andromeda Nebula (Very good condition, like new from 2019, showcase watch)
MooN Blue Nebula / MooN Andromeda Nebula
Nebula is a colorful cloud in deep space composed of gas or dust. The dial of the MooN should symbolize this special feature. The MooN is a mechanical high-tech lunar-phase watch of the highest quality. Its display is luminescent, patented, and depicts the lunar cycle of the northern and southern hemispheres realistically, like a photograph, with a maximum divergence of only one day in 122.5 years. For a complete astronomical rotation, the moon requires 27.3217 sidereal days and 29.52 synodic days. A simple lunar-phase watch measures one moon cycle in 275 days. To keep such a watch precise, very complex gearwork is necessary. Similar to the daily variation in moonrise times, high and low tides occur about 50 minutes later each day. Spring tides during full and new moons demonstrate the enormous influence the moon has on Earth's water supplies. The phases of the moon have a lasting impact on our lives. However, in modern life, we are far removed from living according to natural light and tide rhythms, which is why a lunar-phase watch helps us become aware of the current moon phase. As a result, lunar watches and moon calendars are experiencing a recent renaissance. The drawback of most lunar-phase watches is their inaccuracy; only a few highly expensive models remain precise for decades. The phases of the moon have always been a topic for Schaumburg Watch: our goal was to integrate the most realistic lunar-phase chronometer with the highest precision into a wristwatch. The photorealistic depiction of the MooN, with its 13.4 mm size, is intended to be the world's largest lunar-phase chronometer in an automatic watch. The movement does not animate the moon itself but simulates the Earth's shadow. Therefore, the moon remains visible like in a starry night even during the new moon. During the full moon, its small image on the display shines brightly, thanks to Superluminova A-Grade luminous material. Another innovation by Schaumburg Watch is the option to order the MooN with the lunar phase on the right or left side, tailored for the northern or southern hemisphere. This feature is based on an innovative minute wheel system that allows the model to display the lunar phase on either side according to latitude. An additional highlight is the near-perfect accuracy of the lunar-phase chronometer: over 122.5 years, the depicted moon cycle differs from the real one by just one day. Equally important as the decade-long precision is the ability to fine-tune the lunar phase on the dial. The correction button near eight o'clock enables a minute adjustment of the Earth's shadow over the moon, allowing the full moon to be precisely set at 10:05 pm. Thanks to this sophisticated movement technology, we installed a steel case suitable for daily use instead of a standard case—its well-designed form already excites enthusiasts. The 43 mm size case is very substantial, conical at the bottom, with well-formed lugs for 22 mm straps. A special highlight is the bezel, designed as a crescent moon, which also protects it from scratches. The unique shape of the lugs further enhances the watch's sporty yet elegant appearance, making it stand out in its current size.
