Three Murano glass pieces from Italy in the sommerso style: a decorative bowl (19 cm high, 44 cm wide, 23 cm deep; 2087 g) with extended curved edges and visible scratches on the edges; a Mandruzzato Murano uranium glass vase (1955) with a faceted form and an inner sommerso teardrop core of amber, pink and clear glass, showing UV green fluorescence; and a Flavio Poli attributed Seguso block glass vase, 18 cm high, red, yellow and clear sommerso glass with one nibble at the top and base scratches, heavily used with a small chip on the textured side.
Description from the seller
I'm offering in auction 3 Murano pieces as following:
1. - Murano glass decorative bowl, crafted in Italy in the sommerso style. The piece features an organic freeform design with extended curved edges, a style often associated with mid-century studios such as Mandruzzato or Seguso Vetri d’Arte..
It still retains its original “Murano Glass – Made in Italy” sticker, partially worn due to age.
Some lines/scratches are visible on both curved edges, as shown in the photos.
Dimensions:
19 cm (height) × 44 cm (width) × 23 cm (depth) and 2087 grams
2. - Alessandro Mandruzzato vase in Murano Uranium glass, Italy - 1955
Crafted in heavy, hand-cut glass with a geometric faceted form and a distinctive textured “ice band” along one side. The inner teardrop core is executed in the Sommerso technique, with layered amber, pink, and clear glass. Under UV light, the piece displays a striking bright green fluorescence, enhancing its decorative appeal.
A small chip on the textured side and some surface wear/scratches consistent with age. No cracks. Still stable and highly decorative
Dimensions: 13.5 cm (height) × 12 cm (width) × 5 cm (depth) and 1069 grams
Technique: Sommerso, faceted with textured ice band
Origin: Mandruzzato, Murano, Italy
Period: 1955
3. - Flavio Poli Murano Block Glass Vase
Lovely faceted Sommerso glass block vase in red, yellow and clear glass. Attributed to Flavio Poli for Seguso. Italy, 1960s.
Red glass with a layer in yellow glass submerged into clear glass using the Sommerso technique.
It presents one nibble at the top and normal fine scratches at the base.
Height: 18 cm
