In 1945, Marten's then-wife Phiny Dick illustrated the first stories of the gnome Olle Kapoen and his friend Puk Toffel. Presumably, in collaboration with Marten Toonder. Phiny Dick, who conceived the creation, had these stories credited to her name. Much later, Toonder and Phiny Dick also delegated this work to his studio staff. A total of 79 daily comic strip stories of Olle Kapoen were published.
