Nadiabondi ordinary chondrite meteorite from Burkina Faso, found near Nadiabondi in Diapaga, weighing 4.67 g and measuring 19 × 17 × 14 mm.
Description from the seller
The Nadiabondi meteorite is an authentic stony meteorite (a H5 chondrite) whose fall was observed on July 27, 1956, in Burkina Faso (then French East Sudan).
Main features:
• Type: H5 ordinary chondrite. Chondrites are the most common and oldest types of meteorites, containing chondrules, small spheres of silicates and metal formed early in the solar system. The H type indicates it is rich in iron ('High iron'), and petrological type 5 signifies a moderate degree of thermal metamorphism on its parent asteroid.
Fall observed: Yes, the fall was observed. A bolide (bright fireball) was seen in the sky, followed by audible detonations, before the meteorite reached the ground.
Place of discovery: It was found on November 20, 1956, approximately 5 km west of the village of Nadiabondi, in the Diapaga province, Burkina Faso.
• Known total mass: The first almost intact specimen weighed approximately 3.665 kg (3665 grams). Subsequent expeditions led to the discovery of about 350 additional fragments, bringing the known total mass to approximately 8.16 kg.
Storage location: The main specimen has been placed in the collection of the National Museum of Natural History of Paris.
The Nadiabondi meteorite is an important object of study for scientists, offering clues about the ancient history of the solar system, its formation, and the collisions experienced by asteroids.
Beautiful fresh meteorite characterized by this fall and weighing 4.670 grams, measuring approximately 19x17x14mm, housed in a solid glass case. A famous and sought-after meteorite among true collectors because it originated from an observed and well-documented fall.
Provided with a Certificate of Authenticity, of course.
Once again, a great opportunity to add this beautiful, very distinctive stone to your collection...
