Description from the seller

Pair of polychrome stucco sculptures from the 19th century, demonstrating a pronounced taste for medieval art as reimagined in that period.
The knight, in full armor, holds a shield adorned with a unicorn, a symbol of purity and bravery, while the queen, draped in a purple cloak and crowned with majesty, presents a scroll, possibly an allegory of wisdom or legitimate power.

The matte finish and the polychromy in bold shades evoke these decorative works intended for neo-Gothic interiors, cherished by enthusiasts of architecture and furniture inspired by chivalry. Each piece, hand-painted, bears subtle traces of time: authentic patina, light wear, and age cracks that add to their historical authenticity.
Height: 43 cm
Width: 16 cm
Depth: 11 cm
Weight: about 5 kg per piece, totaling 10 kg for the entire set.
Material: painted and gilded stucco
Period: 19th century
Condition: good overall condition, original patina.

Ideal works to adorn a library, a sword room, or a study, which are part of the Romantic rediscovery of the Middle Ages.
