Luigi Filograno, 2016 original signed pastel and pencil drawing on poplar plywood, titled 'OH, MY GOD!', an interior-scene in a contemporary style, 95 × 85 cm, gold, black, white and beige colours, with iridescent gold leaf and intentional roughened areas, accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity.
Description from the seller
The work shows no abrasions, bumps, or other imperfections. The gold leaf is intentionally iridescent in some areas. There are some small drips and/or rough edges, which are intentional to avoid an academic painting. The poplar plywood on which the subject was drawn is 1 cm thick, and 3 cm high fir strips have been glued to the sides. This gives the work a total depth of 4 cm. At the back is a strip with a hanger. The technique used is pastel and/or pencil drawing on poplar plywood, a very soft wood, with gold leaf backgrounds and a transparent fixative. In some areas, abrasions or small glue drips were intentional to roughen the surface. The surface is slightly rough in the gold leaf part and engraved in the drawn parts, deliberately irregular and rough in some limited points at the artist's request.Any color discrepancies in the photographs are due to different light exposures or camera characteristics. The painting comes with a signed certificate of authenticity. It is packaged by protecting the front and sides with a thick cardboard sheet, then with bubble wrap, and finally the whole thing in an additional sealed cardboard envelope. For shipments outside the EU, longer and initially unpredictable times may be required due to the bureaucratic procedures for the necessary certification. This work depicts an intimate moment between a couple, with the accompanying balances and imbalances. These are represented by the egg, whose balance can be stable, unstable, or indifferent depending on its initial position on a plane. The woman's attitude in observing her man is at the same time ironic and seductive. The work is part of a research regarding Eros and Thanatos, research present on the website www.luigifilograno.it (strongly inspired by the photos of Joel Peter Witkin and Jan Saudek), a site where the various works are divided precisely by research areas. On it you can read the numerous participations in solo and group exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale 2011 (Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Turin - Sala Nervi - Italian Pavilion and Palazzo Ca 'Zanardi - Venice), the Contemporary Art Fair in Copenhagen (Art Nordic) 2018, with awards and prizes such as the Basi Prize 2011. His works are present in museums such as Museum Allotropya (Delphi - Greece) and Boston.FiloGrano lives and works in Vigevano, forty kilometers from Milan ( Italy ).
