Beautiful antique French coal box from around 1900–1930, featuring richly crafted embossed metal relief panels with lively inn scenes in Breughel style. The metal shows a warm bronze/brass-like oxidation, typical of North French workshops from this period (Lille/Rijsel region).
The relief panels are deep, sharp, and detailed, with floral frames and traditional scenes of drinking and playing figures. This type of decoration was widely used in French fireplace and foyer pieces from the early 20th century.
The chest features the original wooden interior, sturdy and functional. It is not only collectible but also highly decorative in country, rustic, or classical interiors.
