Swiss watchmaking - Work by Ph. Terrot

Philippe Terrot was born in France in 1696. The Terrot family emigrated to Switzerland. Philippe worked in Geneva from 1735 to 1780, crafting fine, high-quality clocks decorated with enamel and porcelain. He also used movements from renowned watchmakers and cases from Leton, one of the best case manufacturers of the time, for his clocks.

White enamel dial. Arabic numerals and a minute track with 15, 30, 45, and 60 markers. Original steel hands with gold-colored decoration. Winding next to the two o'clock position. Signed Phe Terrot above the six o'clock position. The dial is in very good condition. No damage, even during winding.

Key winding. - Two keys are provided for winding the movement and setting the hands on the dial's center square.

The back cover features a fine enamel painting. It depicts a young man and a pretty girl, presumably confessing their love. No serious damage. The scene is capped with a diamond ring. A masterful depiction. Below the portrait is an enamel crescent moon with a delicate floral motif.
