In 1852, Julius Assmann founded this watch factory in Glashütte on the advice of F. A. Lange. His son from his first marriage, Paul, became a co-owner of the company in 1877 and has been managing it independently since 1886 after his father's death.
The company Assmann was, after A. Lange & Söhne, one of the most well-known Glashütte establishments, producing very good pocket watches of all quality levels and complication grades.
Fine 14K gold savonette (double case) pocket watch with a high-quality movement from Glashütte, featuring very elegant case engraving — full guilloché — very well preserved.
Watch number 8834 - number in all covers and in the movement.
Front cover with flawless guilloché. Empty monogram shield with decorative frame - full engraving. Inside 14K squirrel hallmark 34 = the last two digits of 8834 (as with all Assmann watches).
Very well-preserved two-piece white enamel dial. Impeccably maintained. Fine Roman numerals with an external continuous line minute track in black. Delicate, classically shaped steel hands - blued. Small recessed seconds at the six o'clock position. Marked J. ASSMANN GLASHÜTTE i/Sachsen.
Gold bezel - smooth
Setting the pointer with a pen during the four (pulling out) and simultaneously turning the crown.
Surfaces worked smoothly.
Gold back cover with complete guilloché work - very well preserved. Interior stamped 14K squirrel points - 8834.
Dust lid also gold 14K. Front side smooth with two line decorative circles. Inside, same gold hallmarks as the back lid - 8834.
Highly interesting fire-gilded 3/4 plate manufactory movement with fine construction from the Assmann workshop in Glashütte - top quality. Chaton bearing and screwed ruby jewel bearing - anchor escapement, marked J. Assmann Glashütte i/Sa No. 8834.
