In 1852, Julius Assmann founded this watch factory in Glashütte on the advice of F. A. Lange. His son from his first marriage, Paul, became a co-owner of the company in 1877 and has been managing it independently since 1886 after his father's death.
The company Assmann was, after A. Lange & Söhne, one of the most well-known Glashütte establishments, producing very good pocket watches of all quality levels and complication grades.
Large, heavy gold Savonette pocket watch with chronograph from the workshop of one of Germany's best watchmakers around 1900.
Very rarely offered collector's watch.
Massive gold savonette 14kt (0.585) stamped. Smooth case. Drop-shaped shots - gold dust lid (14kt). - All stamped. Front and back covers with company logo and number 19209, just like in the factory.
Snap back case - triggered with crown pusher.
Very well-preserved three-piece enamel dial with Arabic numerals. Fine Arabic numbers with an outer minute track featuring 5-minute markers in red, 1/5-second divisions, and delicate, finely handcrafted hands - blued. Small recessed seconds at six o'clock. 30-minute counter with auxiliary dial at twelve o'clock. Hands are gold-colored. The trigger is located on the case beneath the seconds dial. Marked J. ASSMANN GLASHÜTTE i/Sa.

Classic smooth dust cover (14kt).
Highly interesting 3/4 plate manufacturing movement with a unique construction from the Assmann manufactory – top quality. It features chatons bearing, a gold escape wheel, a gold anchor, fine regulation, and polished chronograph levers arranged on the movement's top side. Marked No. 19209.
Work and chronograph functioning.
Watch case diameter 54mm without crown - with crown 75mm. Weight 125g. Origin around 1910.
