The Status Quo – Picturesque Matchstickable Messages From The Status Quo (Pye Records – NSPL 18220) made in Holland original 1968 1st pressing LP | vinyl: VG++ (excellent) | cover: VG++ (excellent / written on backcover / stores sticker backcover) --> see photos. | comes in UK flip-over cover (as released) Rare Dutch release. | Label shows 'made in Holland'. | Backcover shows N PL 18220, with stamped in red "STEREO NSPL". Two south London fellows called Alan Lancaster (bass) and Francis Rossi (guitar - known as Mike Rossi (4) during the band's early years) founded the band in 1962. First name The Paladins soon changed to The Spectres (another previously-documented early name, The Scorpions, is disputed).
In 1966, the band changed their name to "The Traffic", shortly thereafter to The Traffic Jam (2). The lineup consisted of Lancaster, Rossi, John Coghlan (drums) and Roy Lynes (keyboard).
A year later, the band changed name once again to "The Status Quo". Rick Parfitt (guitar) joined the band. Their first hit record, "Pictures of Matchstick Men", was released. "The" was omitted from the name of the band in 1969, known thereafter as just "Status Quo"

Seller's Story

My name is Hans Kesteloo and I finally decided to sell my ‘remaining’ collection of 45’s, LP’s, CD’s, DVD’s, laserdiscs and other odd things after more than 60 years of ‘hardcore’ collecting. I purchased my first 45 in 1965, and this was the beginning of an enjoyable, long-time hobby – a real-time “collector’s career”. Now time has come to pass the baton ! When you like to see all my current active sale offers, then click on my name 'Klemtoon' in any lot / auction. Please note: Since I'm a one man show and aged, I can only send on mondays and thursdays. Returns: In case you like to return an item: I will refund the postage cost of shipping the item(s) to buyer. Buyer pays for the cost of returning that item(s) My grading: vg+ = slight traces of use / visible traces inaudible ex = very light inaudible traces nm = as new mint = new
