Biography
Lucien Dasselborne, born in Louvroil on April 13, 1873, and died in Tournai on January 27, 1962, was a Belgian painter recognized for his impressionist style and sensitivity to the play of light.
After completing his law studies, Dasselborne began painting during World War I. At that time, he mainly made copies based on drawings by Allard L’Olivier, a famous Belgian painter. This initial immersion in the art world sparked a lasting passion, which led him to pursue art training in Paris, where he stayed for an extended period.
His love for art is expressed through a variety of subjects, including landscapes, urban panoramas, still lifes, floral compositions, and figures. His impressionist style is characterized by a generous brushwork, highlighting variations in light and color.
Dasselborne was a member of the Salon des artistes français, where he received an honorable mention in 1922. His notable works include 'L’église de La Chapelle d’Alagnon' (Auvergne) and 'A Street in Tournai' (Belgium), both exhibited at the Salon in 1929. Dasselborne often signed his engravings with the pseudonym Davril, adding a layer of mystery to his work.
