Description from the seller
Rectangular box of Spanish silver, 20th century
Elegant rectangular box made of solid silver, with rich relief decoration in a classical style. The lid features a figurative high-relief scene with cherubs (putti) and architectural elements, inspired by European Renaissance and Neoclassical models, while the sides are finely ornamented with vegetal motifs and engraved scrollwork, demonstrating careful craftsmanship.
The piece features Spanish marks, among them the Spanish star, which corresponds to 915 fine silver, characteristic of Spanish production in the 20th century. Likewise, a later mark “925” is observed, applied at a later stage, something common in antique pieces that have passed controls or international markets. The piece is correctly described as 915-fine Spanish silver, with a later 925 mark.
The interior features fire gilding, typical of boxes designed to hold small personal items, and the hinge operates correctly.
