Description from the seller
The meeting of two icons: Imagine the unlikely encounter in 1980s New York between the anonymous master of contemporary street art, Banksy, and the vibrant icon of Pop Art, Keith Haring. This 25 cm tall sculpture embodies this imaginary artistic dialogue.
The artistic approach: This work uses the famous resin statuette of the 'Flower Thrower' (Love is in the Air) by Banksy as its support, a universal symbol of peaceful protest where a Molotov cocktail is replaced by a bouquet.
In a process of complete reappropriation, the white and blank surface of the sculpture was transformed into a canvas for Keith Haring's inimitable visual language. The black monochrome on white creates a striking graphic impact.
Details of the work: Every square centimeter of the figurine is animated by Haring's iconic vocabulary.
The back of the jacket features a radiant winged heart.
The legs and torso are covered with dancing little men, flying saucers (UFOs), and barking dogs.
Even the bouquet of flowers is Haring-ified.
The base bears the inscription 'PEACE,' connecting the message of the two artists.
Why collect this piece? It is a one-of-a-kind customized artwork that turns the tension of the original Banksy subject into an explosion of joy and movement characteristic of Haring. It is a vibrant tribute to the history of urban art, a powerful conversation piece that will find its central place in any street art or contemporary art collection.
Alexandre Pelletier, known as “Le Yack,” is a Pop-street Art talent from Tours. Initially graduating in design and arts, then in communication, he is naturally drawn to graphic design and chooses to dedicate his professional career to it. As an art director in publishing and web since over 20 years, he works daily amidst images and stories. Le Yack is decidedly a modern and passionate artist.
His jovial and colorful universe often reinterprets mythical characters or celebrities from our society. Jack-of-all-trades, his canvases evoke both contemporary pop culture and the 80s-90s, along with some more 'classic' themes and sometimes even historical elements. Like his themes, he also enjoys mixing his artistic techniques. Acrylic with a brush, aerosol spray, Posca markers, or even oil pastels—it's the unexpected combinations that define his unique and effective style. His work is exhibited in private collections and galleries.
