Men's cufflinks in 9kt yellow gold with a total weight of 4.23 g, Edwardian double‑sided by J & R Griffin in Carrington & Co case, dating from 1901, with Chester assay marks and 375 fineness, in as new condition.
Description from the seller
A refined pair of Edwardian double-sided cufflinks made in 1901 by the Chester goldsmiths J & R Griffin (Joseph & Richard Griffin). Crafted in 9ct gold, each marquise-shaped panel is decorated with precise hand engraving, featuring crisp foliate scrolls and subtle cross-hatching typical of high-quality Edwardian workmanship. The overall design is elegant yet understated, ideal for a well-dressed gentleman who appreciates period detail and fine finishing.
Each of the four panels incorporates a blank shield-shaped cartouche, left untouched and ready for personalisation. These can be engraved with the owner’s initials or, when given as a gift, with the recipient’s monogram, making the set a particularly thoughtful and bespoke presentation piece. The cufflinks retain complete and sharply struck hallmarks: Chester assay marks for 1901, the maker’s mark J&R.G, and the 375 gold fineness mark. They are housed in an original retailer’s case from Carrington & Co, 130 Regent Street, London, the renowned court jewellers and luxury retailers, adding an extra layer of provenance, status, and collectability.
