Technical specifications
Regiment: 16th Infantry Regiment (16th IR)
Period: 1884–1900
Model: High kepi, pre-1900
Calot: Garance drape, black piping.
Insignia: Number '16' embroidered in gold using cannetille.
Visor: old leather, intact, hand-stitched.
Galon: Original golden ribbon.
Interior: Complete, unrestored, with a typical blue lining from the period.
Condition: Very good for a 19th-century piece; sound fabric, stable visor, neat embroidery.
Historical context:
The 16th Infantry Regiment is one of the most active regiments of the Third Republic:
Stationed in Lille, then Toul, he trained several generations of draftees before the Great War.
Regimented képis bearing a gold embroidered number virtually disappeared after 1914, replaced by simplified models and then by the Adrian helmet in 1915.
A pre-1900 képi from the 16th RI with an intact embroidered insignia represents a rare and sought-after piece in military collection.
Authenticity:
100% period piece
Embroidery, visor, trim, and lining consistent with late 19th-century productions.
Dimensions :
Estimated size: 56.
Delivery:
Tracked shipment, reinforced packaging.
