Description
This sheet depicts the famous Kabuki actor Ichimura Uzaemon (市村羽左工門) in a dynamic stage pose. The artist Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III), one of the leading representatives of the Utagawa school and the most prolific Ukiyo-e master of his time, shapes the figure with bold lines, vibrant colors, and characteristic drama. The background features blooming cherry branches (sakura), a well-known symbol of beauty and impermanence, often used as an atmospheric element in Kabuki scenes.
The panel comes from a triptych; the lateral composition and the position of the figure suggest that it is the left segment. Typical of Kunisada are the detailed patterns of the costume, the dynamic posture, and the strong stage presence of the depicted actor.

Good age-appropriate condition, with a slight middle fold, subtle edge wear, some small spots, and minimal rubbing marks; colors well preserved and paper stable, overall a clean impression with only usual age-related signs of use.
