Moederliefde, a limited edition, hand-signed lithograph by Paul Kromjong (Netherlands) from 1940–1950, depicting a still life and sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Paul Kromjong was employed at the Maastricht mortgage bank and also takes painting lessons with Henri Jonas at the Secondary School of Applied Arts.
In 1929, he participated in the exhibition 7 Limburg youth.
He then moves to Amsterdam where he is going to work for the mortgage bank.
In the capital, he shares a studio with his friends Henri Schoonbrood and Hub Levigne, who are studying monumental art at the Rijksacademie voor Beeldende Kunst.
In 1935, Kromjong moved to the bank's headquarters in The Hague.
He also enrolls as a student at the Eerste Nederlandse Vrije Studio and in the evening course in figure drawing at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts.
After the war, he accepted a position as a lecturer in monumental design at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague.
He will keep doing this until 1969.
Worked as a painter, glass artist, wall decorator, and sculptor.
Gained a lot of recognition by painting many diverse subjects in various styles, from impressionist, expressionist, and realistic to abstract.
Was a member of Pulchri Studio, the Hague Art Circle, and the Posthoorngroep.
Exhibited among others at the Panorama Mesdag together with the Haagse Abstracten (Hussem, Kromjong, Roede, Sinemus, Schrofer, Verburg, and Will Leeuwen) in 1946 under the name 'Tableau de la Troupe'.
In 1945, he received the Gerrit van der Veen medal at the exhibition 'Art in Freedom' at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, in recognition of his resistance as an artist against the oppressor.
Kromjong is among those represented with work at the Bonnefanten Museum in Maastricht and at the Hague Municipal Museum.
