AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

This magnificent GAUMONT SPIDO from 1898, made of wood covered in morocco leather, is over a hundred years old and is in an absolutely remarkable condition!

Only a few very minor signs of use are visible, mainly on the 12 plaques. The coating is intact (see photos).

The DECAUX shutter works like on the first day.
The speeds are marked from 0 to 5.
It is engraved 'Paris Congress 1889'.

The TESSAR ZEISS lens: f/6.3, 120mm under license from B. KRAUSS PARIS is in excellent condition.
The diaphragm is perfect and closes well according to the scale 40 - 50 - 1 - 2 - 4 - 8 - 16.
Helical focusing is achieved without any problem from 2 meters to infinity.

The two-part retractable optical sight with a mobile verticality indicator is in perfect condition.

Horizontal and vertical adjustments, with tightening levers, work perfectly.

A storage unit for 12 retractable plaques is attached to it.
The 12 metal plate doors are present, but I didn't understand how the concealment mechanism works.
The automatic view counter works.
The sliding wooden panel that allows for the safe removal of the store needs to be repaired.

A frosted, grid-patterned frame (7.4 x 8.9 cm), in excellent condition, can be installed in place of the store.
