Description from the seller
Work 'Failure is not an option' Omega Speedmaster
- Number 02/30
Signed and numbered artwork by the artist SKE delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
Metal and glass clock, perfectly functional, with an ultra-quiet mechanism. Wall hook.
Diameter 40cm.
Artistic description: This contemporary artwork, presented as a XXL wall clock approximately 40 cm in size, is a bold and playful reinterpretation of the famous Omega Speedmaster Professional chronograph watch, often nicknamed the 'Moonwatch.' It merges the luxury watch universe with the aesthetics of Street Art and Pop Art by the artist SKE.
Main Theme: The tribute to the partnership between Snoopy and Omega related to the Silver Snoopy Award from NASA, awarded to Omega for its contribution to the safety of space missions.
Dial design: The dial faithfully reproduces the codes of the Speedmaster 'Moonwatch' in panda version (white background, black counters).
The famous drawing of Snoopy as an astronaut is visible in the counter on the left.
The iconic motto of the Apollo 13 mission, 'Failure is not an option!', is inscribed at the center of the dial, highlighting the crucial role of the Speedmaster.
Other specific inscriptions for this edition are also present, notably the question 'WHAT COULD YOU DO IN 14 SECONDS?' a nod to the 14-second engine start manually performed by the Apollo 13 crew.
Dimensions: Its XXL size (40 cm) transforms it from a simple time measurement instrument into a striking wall art piece, perfect for enthusiasts of watchmaking, pop culture, and Street Art.
Artistic Style
The work positions itself at the crossroads of Pop Art (through the use of an iconic comic character) and Street Art (through its graphic treatment and its aim to transform a classic luxury object into an accessible and decorative item). It aligns with the trend of artists who revisit luxury brands and cultural icons.
Bio Artist
SKE is a self-taught French artist and versatile creator who grew up immersed in the culture of the 80s and 90s, inspiring a large majority of his artistic works.
He constantly explores new techniques: acrylic painting, collage, stenciling, graffiti, urban installations, and digital art. His dynamic and expressive compositions, often with double meanings, blend the raw energy of street art with the visual impact of pop art.
After an exceptional year in 2025, SKE's reputation is experiencing a remarkable rise. Winner of the first prize at the Urban Master competition (2023), and later named Revelation of the Year at the Color Jam Challenge (2025).
SKE was selected as 'Artist of the Month' by the Opulence gallery in October, and he also benefited from a feature in an American art magazine, confirming his international recognition.
His works have already been exhibited in major venues in Europe, the United States, and Asia, cementing his position on the contemporary art scene. At the same time, SKE is also establishing himself in the digital artwork market, a major trend of the last two years, reinforcing the appeal of his creations among collectors.
Icons of popular culture, bold graphics, and a play of textures characterize a style that is now essential.
SKE is undoubtedly an artist to follow, to initiate or enrich a collection with a rising star.
Recognized & Awarded Artist – Pop Art & Contemporary Street Art
A universe between heritage and modernity. SKE's work is part of a prestigious lineage. His style reflects the visual effectiveness of Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, while also incorporating the subversion of Banksy or pioneer Blek le Rat. His works create a bridge between eras: they revisit classics, not hesitating to reinterpret Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring, Hokusai's The Great Wave, or Picasso's deconstructed forms, confronting them with a modern urban aesthetic similar to Mr Brainwash or Kaws.
Pop culture & nostalgia Drawing from the collective imagination, SKE manipulates icons from our childhood. It depicts the Disney universe with figures like Mickey or Pinocchio, and the symbolic greed of Scrooge McDuck. The influence of gaming, comics, and graphic novels is omnipresent: from the Nintendo universe and the legendary Gameboy, to Pokémon creatures (Pikachu, Charizard, Sacha), and Marvel superheroes. SKE crystallizes these memories in the manner of Daniel Arsham or Takashi Murakami.
LUXURY, HYPE & CONSUMER SOCIETY In a style sometimes reminiscent of Alec Monopoly, the artist plays with codes of success and materialism. The symbol of the dollar coexists with logos of luxury and fashion giants. His canvases capture the 'Hype' aesthetic: featuring the sneaker universe (Nike Air Jordan, Adidas, Off White) and haute couture (Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Louboutin). He also incorporates automotive adrenaline (Ferrari, Porsche, Bugatti, AMG) and precision watchmaking (Rolex, Tag Heuer), not forgetting mass consumption icons like Coca Cola. It is vibrant art, with textured finishes sometimes reminiscent of Jeff Koons' glossy surfaces or the facets of Richard Orlinski.
This work is ideal for enriching a collection or bringing a dynamic touch to your interior.
