Spice box - Wood - India - 19th century

Carved wooden box forming a mandala on the lid in the shape of a dome, ending in an eleven-point star and a metal ring (iron). The wood has a beautiful patina and a lovely caramel color. The interior features a hollow carved flower with four petals and a central circle. There are slight imperfections on two of the lid's tips, which do not affect the aesthetic interest of the piece. The carving is neat and of excellent craftsmanship. It was likely used to hold the various mineral powders used in the auctions.
