Description from the seller
Typographic marquetry-3 + authenticity certificate (see last photo).
This work is a Boulle marquetry, composed of 78 hand-cut wood pieces. (The Boulle marquetry is named after André-Charles Boulle, a marquetry artist of Louis XIV.)
Wxyz A, among others, completed training as a marquetry artist at École Boulle (Paris School of Applied Arts).
Today, he applies his traditional know-how to projects related to his passions, graffiti and letter work.
Wxyz was born in Paris in 1980, grew up there, and still works in the eastern part of Paris today.
He owes his artistic awakening to observing mural inscriptions from a very young age. Since 1996, he has painted many walls, mainly in the Paris region.
He enjoys transforming letters and exploring new ways to draw Wxyz with, as he likes to tell children, 'all the colors of the alphabet.'
In these works, the letter is no longer a pseudonym; it serves as a pretext for exploring colors and shapes, a skeleton for abstraction.
Wxyz participated in numerous group exhibitions and exhibited solo twice in Paris in 2015 and 2020.
The last group exhibition took place in September 2020 at Ground Effect, at the invitation of the VAO collective.
