Calibre and quick‑set functions
Movement: Seiko 6106 automatic with day‑date display, no manual winding, no seconds‑stop.
Calendar: English/Japanese bilingual day‑of‑the‑week plus date display.
Quick‑set method: Push‑in crown (push‑type quick‑set). On this 6106 series, the calendar changes according to push depth.
Date quick‑set: From the crown’s normal position, a shallow push advances only the date by one day.
Date + day quick‑set: From the same normal position, a deep, firm push advances both the date and the day by one step (day cycles English → Japanese → English). On some 6106 variants a deep push may move only the day, or both day and date together, but this two‑stage push system is typical for the series.
Safety notes
Do not use the push‑to‑advance function between 9:00 PM and 2:00 AM, because the calendar switching mechanism is engaged and may be damaged.
Before adjusting the calendar, set the time to around 6:00 to move outside the danger zone.
When pushing the crown, hold the case firmly and press the crown straight in; avoid pushing at an angle.
Practical setting guide
Set the time to around 6:00
Move the hands to about 6 o’clock so that the calendar mechanism is not in its changeover period (9:00 PM–2:00 AM).
Set the date to the previous day (shallow push)
With the crown in its normal position, lightly and shallowly push to advance only the date until it shows the day before the target date.
Example: If today is the 10th, advance the date to the 9th.
Advance date and day to today (deep push)
From the normal position, perform a full deep push to advance both the date and the day of the week by one step at a time.
Repeat this deep push until the date reaches today, and stop the day display at either English or Japanese, according to your preference.
Set the actual current time
Pull out the crown to position 2 and rotate the hands, crossing midnight once while keeping AM/PM in mind, until you reach the correct current time.
The date will advance by one day as you cross midnight, so using the “previous‑day setting + crossing midnight” method ensures that the final date display is correct.
