Jean-Baptiste Duvoisin, born on October 19, 1744, in Langres, and died on July 9, 1813, was a French dignitary of the Catholic Church, serving as the bishop of the Diocese of Nantes from 1802 until his death.
Jean-Baptiste Duvoisin, known as the abbé, graduated top of his class in his license at the Sorbonne and was soon entrusted with a chair of theology at the same school. He was then chosen as the grand vicar by the bishop of Laon.
He was exiled in 1792 as a refractory priest, returned to France after the Concordat of 1801, and soon attracted the attention of Napoleon I, who appointed him Bishop of Nantes on July 5, 1802, and entrusted him with his full confidence: he was one of the four bishops responsible for residing near Pius VII during his stay in Savona and Fontainebleau.
Napoleon also entrusted him with the position of chaplain to his wife, Empress Marie-Louise.
Good specimen.
