Description from the seller
Aki no Yo Ōnatsume 秋の夜 大棗(あきのよ おおなつめ) – Michiba Sōkō 道場宗廣(みちば そうこう)
A refined lacquer tea caddy created in the celebrated Yamanaka-nuri tradition of Ishikawa.
Its deep autumn-red ground is wrapped entirely in flowing grasses and flowers, painted with
remarkable confidence and precision.
The decoration continues seamlessly around the body, allowing the piece to reveal a shifting,
poetic atmosphere as it is turned in the hand—quiet, elegant, and full of seasonal depth.
Works that combine such technical skill with a fully realized sense of rhythm and movement
are particularly appreciated among collectors of Japanese tea utensils.
