Francisci Solsonae’s Luciani Laudemiorum, Primera Edición (1560), Latin historical law, printed by Excudebant haeredes Cornelij B. / Ioannis Giordij, in 125 pages, 30 cm high by 21 cm wide, in a period limp vellum/soft binding, with jurist marginalia and worm damage but complete.
Description from the seller
Francisci Solsonae - Luciani Laudemiorum. First Edition 1560. Historical Law. A highly rare work from the First Edition printed in Lugduni (Lyon) at the expense of the Barcelonan bookseller Ioannis Giordij.
Key Bibliographic Data
Author: Francis of Solsona
Work: Luciani Laudemiorum (Right of Censos and Laudemios).
Architectural cover engraved in wood (Xilography).
Date: 1560.
Editorial: The heirs of Cornelius B. / Johannes Giordius published.
-Note of Crucial Date: The book indicates the date of M. D. LVI. (1556) on the engraved cover (probable date of the royal privilege), but the officially confirmed printing date by the colophon is M. D. LX. (1560), which is the correct date of the First Edition.
Pagination and Dimensions
Number of pages: The volume consists of 125 pages (sides) printed in total.
Pagination note: The main body is paginated as 1-116. It is confirmed that page 116 displays the period-typographical error, showing the number '16' instead of '116' in all known editions, a detail that validates the authenticity of the piece.
Dimensions (in cm): Height: 30 cm and Width: 21 cm.
Binding and general condition
Original period binding in soft parchment (paperback), in a condition consistent with its 460 years of age. The copy is complete.
Important Defects (Transparency)
Marginalia and Ink Corrosion: Contains handwritten notes (marginalia) by a legal reader. These were made with ferrogálica ink, which has caused notable darkening and fragility in the paper in the inked areas. The main printed text is completely legible.
Damage caused by Xilophages (Carpenter ants): Shows traces of woodworm with holes caused by xilophages, primarily concentrated on the outer edges.
Point of Sale: Period annotations serve as evidence of the item's historical provenance and usage, adding bibliographic value.
