About the work:
Egg

The egg, since ancient times, has been celebrated as a universal symbol of perfection, life, and origin. In cultures around the world, it represents the promise of the new, a microcosm of possibilities and mystery. This photographic project explores the egg through an artistic lens, combining minimalist still lifes and portraits of people, creating a dialogue between the symbolism of the egg and the human dimension.

Ovum aims to stimulate reflection on the meaning of perfection and fragility, inviting viewers to find connections between the simplicity of a primordial form and the complexity of the human condition. Through the use of photographic language, the project seeks to re-evaluate the ordinary, elevating it to the extraordinary.
The project draws from historical and artistic references, including:
Renaissance Art: The egg as a symbol of divine creation, present in works such as the 'Madonna dell'Uovo' by Piero della Francesca.
Surrealist Art: The use of the egg in works by Salvador Dalí, which he often associated with birth and the subconscious.

About the artist:
I am Erminando Aliaj, an artist and photographer based in Brescia. My passion for photography has grown over the years to become the heart of my artistic and professional journey. Through my work, I explore themes such as identity, diversity, and human connections, aiming to tell stories that go beyond the visible, to evoke emotions and reflections.

My photographic research has led me to travel to South America, Southeast Asia, and many other parts of the world, documenting places and people with the aim of creating a universal dialogue through images. I enjoy working with settings that go beyond the urban context, preferring symbolic scenarios that highlight the relationship between body, space, and narration.

I have exhibited my work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. My photographs have been published in magazines such as Vanity Fair, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Elle Spain, Corriere della Sera, Repubblica, and others.
