About the work:

"Who am I" is a photographic project that reveals the power of the unspoken. Each shot depicts a female figure wrapped in an ethereal veil, where details of the body—a slender neck, a sinuous arm—stand out alongside luxurious jewelry, such as sparkling necklaces or refined earrings. The veil does not hide but invites the observer to imagine, to question.

Inspired by Magritte's surrealism, Man Ray's transparencies, and Sarah Moon's dreamy aesthetic, the project explores the boundary between visible and invisible. Like Magritte's Les Amants, the veil is a symbol of mystery, while Merleau-Ponty's thought reminds us that identity exists in a continuous tension between what is seen and what is intuited.

"Who am I" intertwines the allure of luxury with the mystery of the hidden essence, transforming photography into a silent dialogue. Who is this woman? What do the emerging details tell? The project does not reveal but suggests: the true protagonist is the mystery.

My name is Erminando Aliaj. I am an artist based in Brescia, Italy, specializing in Fashion Portrait and Travel Photography. I have been a teacher at an Academy of Fine Arts for over 14 years.

I have exhibited my work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. My photographs have been published in magazines such as Vanity Fair, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Elle Spain, Corriere della Sera, Repubblica, and others.
