The bird is executed in cold-painted spelter with beautiful geometric engravings to the wings and tail, characteristic of the French Art Deco period. A gilt butterfly decorates the corner of the base, adding a decorative and unusual detail. The sculpture displays the strong flowing lines and stylised naturalism typical of the workshops that produced pieces in the manner of I. Rochard, J. Lemoine, and Menneville.
